Every church needs a finance committee to oversee the money coming in and going out of the church on both a weekly and annual basis. While not necessary, having a background in accounting or record keeping makes a church member an ideal candidate for the finance.
Managing money effectively is essential for all churches, especially now, as many churches face economic struggles. From weekly offerings and donations to building expenses and payroll checks, numerous funds come into and flow out of a church's budget. The responsibility of a church's finance committee is to regulate all monetary activity.
