Children's Liturgy |
Mission: Each Sunday at the 10:00 Mass, children from 3 to 7 years old (up to their First Communion ceremony) are welcome to leave Mass prior to the first reading. The children gather with an adult teacher and parent assistants to hear the same gospel as their parents in Mass. However, the reading is in simpler terms. There is an activity to reinforce the message of the gospel. Children return to Mass after the Homily. Role: Any parishioner may volunteer to teach Children's Liturgy. The prep time is minimal and the book explains exactly what to do and say. Parents are welcome to join their child to see what it is about and parent assistance is always welcome. |
Children from 3 years up to and including 1st grade are dismissed from
the 10:00am Mass every Sunday prior to the first reading.
A teacher then presents the Gospel message in terms they
can comprehend. Children return before the offetory,
usually with a coloring activity that has been completed.
Parents are welcome to join their children until they are
comfortable. Teachers are scheduled on a rotating basis
and are required to pass a CORI check.
